George was a fan of science fiction as can be seen by the magazines in his room.

Although this is not an actual prop from the movie, this magazine and several others of the same vintage, can be seen in George's bedroom.  This magazine can be seen laying on George's bed while he slept.  All of the magazines are actual magazines from the 1950's.
