Marty, pretending to be Mary Jr., stands up to Griff in the Cafe 80's. This angers Griff to the point that he goes after Marty with an expanding baseball bat. Later during the Hover Board chase, Griff has the bat ready to strike as Marty stalls his Hoverboard over the water. As everyone knows, Hoverboards don't work on water.

The scene with the expanding bat used a metal bat with an air hose attachment. When it was time for it to lengthen, off-screen technicians applied compressed air.
